Tc The production is wonderfully warm and the songs are delightful.
Superb little package and I now realise why it is called ‘A Tadd of Fat Birds’.

about

“…Yooyoun is the best kind of melodist...This recording reminds me so much of the splendid Lucky Thompson – Oscar Pettiford – Skeeter Best sessions. He has an easy unaffected swing, and he never trades feeling for virtuosity. And his colleagues are just as fine in their blissfully timeless ways. So his new CD, with its Joycean title, is a delight."
—Michael Steinman, JAZZ LIVES

“…For style I would think he'd name Charlie Christian and Joe Pass; Cho has that light, strumming kind of touch…He starts the release with "Relaxin' At Camarillo," and if there is another tune about being in a nuthouse that swings this hard let it stand up to be counted.”
—NEW JOINTZ

Jazz guitarist Yooyoun Cho's debut CD <A Tadd of Fat Birds> is out on Saturday 11/11/2023. The album is a tribute to Tadd Dameron, Fats Navarro and Charlie Parker.

Brendan Mark played tenor sax, Aron Caceres played the bass and Maxwell Filipiak played the drums. Arrangement-wise, he tried to incorporate much of chord melodies as if his guitar was a piano. Also the track list is a mixture of different setups spanning from solo guitar to full quartet sound. For more information, visit: www.yooyouncho.com

Yooyoun Cho is originally from Wonju, South Korea, currently in NYC. He spent 7 years in Seoul playing traditional, swing and bebop music before moving to New York. In NY, he was mentored by guitarist Pasquale Grasso, and has played in venues varying from small cafés to clubs like Dizzy’s.
